Turn Your Attention Inward: Saturn Retrograde In Pisces

On June 17, Saturn’s journey through Pisces will slow down as Saturn begins its backwards dance. From then until November 14, we will witness the strictness of Saturn soften.

If you read this post, you already know what to expect with Saturn being in Pisces. This placement of Saturn brings forth reality checks where we will reflect on goals and inner self.

Saturn Retrogrades typically last around four and a half months. When Saturn is in Retrograde, the energies and influences of Saturn are turned inward, affecting us on a personal level. The Saturn themes around discipline, structure, responsibility, limitations, career and authority may need a deep dive for reconsideration.

Over the next four months, as a whole, we may reexamine societal priorities. There may be a collective search for purpose and meaning, pushing things to be reviewed and questioned. We may see a reevaluation of fairness and sustainability of our internal structures. We need transparency from our leaders and we want to hold government officials responsible for any abuse of power. There may be a greater collective push for a consequence to unethical or unacceptable actions.

We can hope that those in power will learn from the past and be reminded of the consequences of certain actions, laws and policies. It is a time to look at the long-term view, rather than short term effects. People and communities are resilient, and at this time our perseverance may come to the forefront.

In Our Personal Lives

Saturn Retrograde is a period of learning and testing that can bring us challenges, obstacles or delays. We are reminded of the areas of life that require attention and maybe need some improvement. We’re encouraged to practice patience, perseverance and a willingness to do the inner work. There is a lack of structure brought on by the sign Pisces could allow you to redefine your hopes and dreams, or allow them to slip through your fingers.

Retrogrades already cause things to slow down, but with the sign of Pisces involved, there may be confusion, deception and overall uncertainty. We might feel gullible or be wary of anything that seems too good to be true. We might feel like we’re having a difficult time with our responsibilities. Setbacks in our projects and plans might bring frustration. We could feel our patience being tested. It’s important to learn patience and perseverance from these moments. Setbacks are opportunities to be open to new ways of thinking. Address limiting beliefs or fears. Confront and overcome these limitations!

This time can bring awareness to accountability and self-discipline. Karmic lessons can be brought to the forefront during Saturn’s Retrograde. Present situations may reflect on lessons from our past. We’re invited to embrace lessons that come with maturity. It’s an opportunity to learn from past experiences and establish a solid foundation for the future.

Our self-awareness may be heightened. With Saturn in Pisces, we lead us to have emotional introspection, causing us to delve deep into hidden emotions or psychological patterns. It could feel necessary to take responsibility for past actions and address any unresolved issues. Old wounds may be resurfacing, forcing us to confront them, and hopefully let go. We can use this opportunity heal from some of these things.

Saturn governs career and ambition. You might feel the need to reassess your professional path. You might consider a new direction, like beginning a totally new career that better reflects on your inner wishes and needs. Some of us might now want or need to start from scratch, but reassess where your current path is. Make slight adjustments to what we are doing with our careers if they have become stagnant.

Look inward and reflect on your choices and responsibilities, and how these two correlate. We may face self-reflection and reassessment in commitments and long-term goals. You’re given the opportunity to assess if the path you’re on is right and aligns with your goals, values and long-term aspirations.

It could be a time to address self-sacrificing and codependency issues. If you’re someone who is always saying yes, personal boundaries may be tested. There is a balance that needs to be made between compassion and self-care.

While we’re slowing down for introspection, our spiritual connections may be brought forward. No matter what those are, it could be time to reassess how we are practicing. The world of the logical and spiritual is mixing with Saturn in Pisces, and we may learn how to implement spiritual practices or principles into everyday life.

As always, it’s important to remember that while astrology provides valuable insights, it's not to dictate our lives or predetermine our experiences. This should be seen as a time for supportive energy for self-reflection and growth rather than a source of fear or negativity. The meeting of the practical approaches of Saturn with the intuitive Pisces makes for a great time to integrate both aspects to make wise decisions in your life.

Work with the Energy

Here are some ways that you can work with the energy of this Saturn Retrograde:

Focus on establishing healthy boundaries and practice self care. Take a bath infused with herbs or essential oils, such as lavender or eucalyptus, that cleanse energy and release emotional burdens. Set around crystals such as rose quartz or amethyst for self-love. Relax! The best way to plan for your future is with a clear head.

Pay attention to your dreams during this retrograde and use dreamwork to access your subconscious. Keep a journal at your bedside and write your dreams immediately upon waking up. Take the time to analyze and reflect on them, looking for patterns, symbols and messages that might hold insight for personal growth and healing.

Emotional Release Ritual

Create a sacred space where you can safely express and release pent up emotions. Light candles, burn incense, and/or play soothing music. Write down any emotions you wish to release on a piece of paper. Read them out loud and then burn them in a fire safe container, visualizing the emotions being released.

Healing and Forgiveness Ritual

Write a letter to yourself or to someone you need to forgive. Express your emotional intent for healing and forgiveness. You may burn the letter as a symbol of releasing the pain from this past wound and invite healing in your life.

Looking toward a creative outlet can be a great way to navigate through some of the more difficult aspects of this transit. Whether this is painting, making music, creative writing or something completely different is up to you.

Here are some journal prompts to help those words flow freely:

  • What emotional patterns are resurfacing? How can I heal and release these? Are there any forgiveness or self-compassion practices that can support my emotional healing?

  • Are there areas of my life where I sacrifice my own needs for the sake of others? How can I establish healthier boundaries and practice self-care while maintaining compassion for others?

  • How have my emotions influenced my decisions and actions in the past? How can I create healthier emotional boundaries and make more conscious decisions in the future?

  • How can I deepen my spiritual connection? Are there any practices or beliefs that I would like to explore or integrate?

  • How do I view success and achievement in my life? Are there any long-term goals or aspirations that need reevaluation or adjustment?

  • Reflect on any dreams, intuitive insights, or synchronicities you might have experienced during this retrograde. What messages of guidance might they hold?
